ADVOCACY HAPPENS EVERYWHERE IN MA.

HELP US BRING ADVOCACY WEEK EVENTS ACROSS MA, TOO.

Let us know if you’re planning a local activation by Friday, January 30th at 5 PM to have it included on our statewide directory of events.

Creative Sector Advocacy Week is a statewide, annual event in Massachusetts to celebrate the vibrancy of the creative sector and to raise visibility of artists’ contributions to social, civic, and economic life in our state. Advocacy Week consists of statewide, regional, and local activations to promote civic engagement within the creative sector, organize the creative community, and present the sector’s needs to elected officials in a unified voice.

This year’s Creative Sector Advocacy Week is scheduled for March 2nd to March 6th, 2026. We want to bring Advocacy Week to as many artists and creatives as possible through local activations, but we need your help. We’re looking for organizers to host local events and activities in the weeks leading up to, during, and after Advocacy Week.

WHAT’S CONSIDERED A LOCAL ACTIVATION?

A local activation is an event that’s based out of your region, designed to inspire your community to take civic action, and is organized or led by local arts and culture leaders. Essentially, it’s a grassroots call to action.

The action or event can be just about anything you want that accomplishes one or more of the following:

  • Celebrates the value and impact of art, culture and creativity in your community

  • Brings people together to strengthen creative community power

  • Engages elected officials so they can be our champions in local, state and federal government

Past events have included letter writing campaigns before theater performances, roundtables with elected officials, art making for community change, 24-hour livestreams and webinars with sector leaders, and teach-ins on policies affecting the creative sector. You can organize an event solo or in coalition with other people in your community.

SHARE WHAT YOU’RE THINKING AND ADD YOUR EVENT TO OUR DIRECTORY

Send us the details on your event by Friday, January 30th at 5 PM so we can add your event to our statewide directory and help you get the word out. The submission form is not an application and MASSCreative is not vetting your event. The form is just for us to log all of the details that we will need to share accurate information about your activation.

MASSCreative will follow up with organizers who submit event details with a promotional toolkit and will feature your event in our Advocacy Week communications. If you have any questions, please contact info@mass-creative.org.

You can review the submission questions ahead of preparing your response by downloading our guide here.
